My First 787 sighting!
In the 5+ years that I've been writing this blog, I have never seen a 787 up close until today. Living and working in NY doesn't afford me many opportunities to see one and I had to be content with pictures that others have taken until today. So I got my cherry popped so to speak!
LOT 006 from Warsaw to JFK flew directly over my house here in Long Island (I'm fortunate/unfortunate to live right under one of the main approaches to JFK) and using flightradar24.com I was able to time my picture perfectly even though I didn't have the use a digital SLR, I was able to see my first 787 in real life and somewhat up close as LOT 6 (ZA272, LN 86, SP-LRC) flew final into JFK as LOT re-started 787 flights for the first time since the grounding. Above is my picture as it flew directly over my house just a few minutes ago.

Looks as light as a feather. It won't be long though, before this is no longer a rare bird!
Awesome - great that you got to see one!!!
Wow, pretty cool!

Hopefully you can see one from the inside soon too! I flew from PHX to Houston, just to fly one to Chicago and then flew back home to PHX - It was worth it!
Hopefully you can see one from the inside soon too! I flew from PHX to Houston, just to take a ride on the second 787 flight, we flew to Chicago, then I came back home. It was worth the trip!
I've been wanting to do the same- fly one just for the experience. But I'm not aware of any that service the regional airport in Little Rock. Eventually hopefully.
So excited to see the 787s getting back into the air~! Also very excited to see the first 787 delivered to China Southern after more than one year of delay due to the VTC. Thanks for writing this blog and giving us aviation enthusiasts in China up to date information.
Wow. I think I've been following this log for most of those five years. I'm glad you saw in person. Great shot of it, and keep up the solid reporting. I'll see one soon I hope !
Living just 3 miles off the south end of Paine Field, I see them all the time, and let me tell you:
Seeing them in the air for the 100th time is just as exciting as seeing it for the first. The grace of the wings, the powerful, yet quieter sound, and the sparkling white of the 787 is beautiful to see.
Uresh, I hope you get to see more and more of them coming into JFK, and I also hope you never lose the excitement that you felt today.
Congrats on the popped cherry. :-) Here is what we saw on Saturday, June 1st when our Phoenix bird (the one that caught fire) returned to Boston for her first revenue roundtrip NRT-BOS-NRT. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y36F0Ay_sKs
