Boeing delivers Qatar Airways' First 787

Just confirmed to me from Boeing that the company has indeed delivered the first 787 to Qatar Airways.  This aircraft is ZA461 (LN 58, A7-BCB) will fly to Victorville for a couple weeks to finish work on the Thales IFE system and then return to Everett where there will be a formal delivery ceremony around 17th or 18th before the aircraft is flown away to Doha. Boeing now has delivered 29 total 787 to 7 customers.  The delivery was a contractual delivery meaning that paperwork was signed and the customer made the final payment on the aircraft. Thus far in 2012 Boeing has delivered 26 787s.

I guess Boeing/GE has satisfactorily resolved Qatar's engine demand for the GE. Then a solution is in the 787 engine processes for future Qatar deliveries?

According to my source Qatar never really had a problem with the GE engine and were in fact quite happy with them. The real delay stemmed from the IFE by Thales and getting the bugsworked out and installation of the WIFI o nthe airplane. U Turn Al wanted to bitch for attention. One thing about him ifthere's a camera or reporter he'll whore himself so he can read about the next day. Evenif mean pissing off your suppliers. I don't think there shouldn't be any issues with follow on deliveries but who knows. This guy is unpredictable.

Hi Suresh, in your 787 Flight Test Hours : 787 Production and Disposition you have l/n 5 N787FT as stored.
But Matt Cawby took a pic of it flying just 2 days ago.

Thank you for the update. I see that
its Qatar has suffered a mid shaft narcissistic deviation. The Itsallaboutme-alator will be installed subsequent and prior to each delivery until the milking machinery runs dry or the real center of the universe is found on Google maps.

They signed off on this one just to get Al Baker off their case. I presume that a contract addendum requires him to be quiet, at least for a few weeks!

Everett will run out of flightline soon, with about 10 frames with more coming soon.

They better start to test fly like crazy?!

test flight activity is frustratingly slow right now.

some chart suggestions Uresh:

add a column showing if it was an everett or charleston manufactured frame. after delivery this info is lost in your current chart format, and i think it's kind of historically interesting.

on the delivered chart, add an initial column before line # for delivery #. like 1, 2... 27.

i handled a bit different in my copycat 747-8 sheet (http://747-8.blogspot.com/), using a sort function in a separate tab, but i lose color coding, which kind of sucks. it's a work in progress.

I think LN79 is outside of the FAL on the ramp now.

Also LN50 for UA is painted and doing pre flight at EMC? No more empty stalls? This backlog is becoming an issue and I see very few test flights.

Will thew 787 program ever get in balance? There needs to be 7 or more delivered this month again to clear the backlog IMO.

Looks like LN79 is out, so the LN78 should be out too, right?
