UPDATE: The WSJ says the formal launch will be at Paris and Boeing will announce launch customers from the US (United, Air Lease Corp), Europe (British Airways), and Asia (Singapore Airlines). No word on numbers or if these will be firm orders.
I only have a 140 character tweet from Jon but he's reporting that Boeing is formally launching the 787-10 with orders from Singapore, United, IAG, and Air Lease being seen as possible launch customers. If true, this news comes 4 days before the start of the Paris Air Show and a day before the first flight of the A350-900 which the 787-10 will compete directly against. Obviously Boeing is trying to steal some of Airbus' thunder with tomorrow's first flight.
No unexpected. Race is ON: Who will DELIVER FIRST: 787-10 or A350? Make no mistake: Both will be fine airplanes. As both camps have discovered, functional delivery is VERY important to their customers.
ReplyDeleteGiven what the new A-350 will be able to do, it would be inconceivable if Boeing doesn't redesign the 777 as a carbon composite plane.
ReplyDeleteis line 21 really back in the emc? man, 20 + 21 have been in there for ages. if this is how long each early frame is gonna take to finish up, they'll be keeping the emc open another 5 years.
ReplyDeleteI saw my first 787 in person flying out of IAH on June 7. I wanted to snap a picture but was in the car heading to the terminal and could not get my phone quick enough.

I see that the Qatar frame that has been delivered is going to the air show. Has something changed and they now no longer need to go to victorville to get inflight connectivity its done on the line, or will it still need to go back to victorville to get it installed before service??
ReplyDeleteBritish Airways is going to order 10 -10's at the Paris Air Show

Is Charleston having problems with the LAN line number 113? It seems to have been in position 4 for a longer period than usual.
