UPDATE (9/18/2012): It appears that Boeign has delivered another 787 to Air India yesterday. Flightaware is showing a delivery flight from Charleston to Frankfurt for AI 170 leaving at 3PM EST.
Media reports has British Airways receiving it's first 787 in May 2013 while LOT Polish Airlines is expecting its first 787 on November 15, 2012.
Lastly, I'm hearing Qatar Airways should be taking delivery of their first 787 sometime around Thursday September 18 and fly away the following day for arrival on Saturday in Doha. The aircraft that will be delivered will be ZA461 (LN 58, A7-BCB). This information has not been confirmed.
The delivery does not seem certain if you read this article (dated Tuesday, 18/9/2012 02:10 AM Doha Time):

It mentioned that:
1) Qatar are not happy about the "quality of the cabin." They "will not take a cabin even if there is just a scratch."
2) Before delivery, each plane needs to fly to Charleston to have connectivity installed, which will take place "within 30 days."
Isn't the Qatar delivery supposed to be October 18th because Sept. 18th is tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteDelivery is tentative for Thirsday, Sept. 19
DeleteI know flightaware is buggy sometimes, but can anyone confirm that ZA338(LN58) did fly back to Charleston? I only find one flight of "BOE238".
ReplyDeleteThis has buged me for a while now, any up to date pictures of the flightline at Charleston? Maybe not a mystery at all..
Is UA taking delivery today? (9/18)
ReplyDeleteSadly it doesn't seem like it
ReplyDeleteTest flight #16 (yes, i've been keeping count!) planned for QAT/58 this morning... This is a record that will take a while to beat!
ReplyDeleteActually it's the 10th. Don't count the times when BOE461 flew as a 737.
ReplyDeletefinally some better news with the 787-9 now starting to progress further.
ReplyDeleteNow we are also finally starting to hear Qatar talk about the 787 issues nothing major but something to watch.
I really do hope these engineers do not go to a work to rule plan and throw Boeing into more bad news.., just sign on the dotted line...can anyone tell me what they want and what has been offered and if Boeing has offered a fair deal or are the engineers just trying to reach too far? I would be pretty disappointed if it has an effect on production and deliveries
Uresh, you have 6 aircraft ready for delivery. Are we going o see a flood of deliveries in the next week, or is there some kind of hold up?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
What about UA... I thought it was going to 9/18????
ReplyDeleteUresh,
ReplyDeleteDo you know how many paint hangars Boeing has available for use in Ft Worth? I would suspect only one. With LN75, ZA264 Ethiopian arriving there today for painting, it might be at least a week until LN54, ZA238 Air India can fly there for painting. If I recall, the last Ethiopian frame that went to Ft Worth for painting was there for about 8 days.
Looks like the backlog has gone up by 11. ANA just added 11 787-9's.

Uresh,
ReplyDeleteI have a question:
I did a quick and dirty on the the Boeing delivery pace and they are about 20 short at the current pace of delivering 600 airplanes for 2012. My question is: Does Boeing count how many airplanes built and ready to deliver or how many delivered not using build numbers at the end of the year?
Andrew,
ReplyDeleteBoeing counts the number of aircraft actually delivered to customers during a month, quarter or year.
