  1. Fernandes certainly is ambitious. I wonder how many angry protectionists he'll have to fight in the next decade. I wish him well.

    It takes a very large order sheet from Airbus to make 138 look like a small number. This also marks a further shift towards Asia. Look how few of those orders came from elsewhere.

  2. Uresh what do you make of the fact that Airbus got so many more orders than did Boeing at the airshow? Is this a portend of things to come or more a result of Boeing not having a new version of the 737 on the board yet?

Airlines want more fuel efficinet jets especially with oil being priced where it is. 12%-15% improvement in fuel burn is compelling for the iarlines to buy the neo and when Boeing decides between re-engine or new airplane I think they'll rake in a similar number of orders. At hte end of the day it's the airlines demand for more fuel efficient jets that's driving the orders, not if Airbus is better than Boeing or vice versa.

  4. Yes. But I just hope that Boeing doesn't cede too much of the market to the neo because of this 737 procrastination that shows no end in sight.

  5. Well this is a very important market segment to Boeing. I do think that the deliberation going on internally are going to pick up ace. I hope to write more about this.
